The short version
- You control your data. Your seizure log is yours. You decide who, if anyone, can see it.
- We don't sell your data or use it for advertising. No ad networks, no data brokers, no cross-app tracking.
- Sharing is opt-in. Supporters only see your information after you invite them.
- You can delete your account and data at any time (see "Your choices" below).
Information you provide
To create an account and use the app, we collect:
- Account details — your name and email address, and a password (stored only in a securely hashed form; we never see your plain-text password).
- Profile details — optionally your phone number, and any emergency contacts you add (their name, relationship, and phone number).
- Medical details you choose to add — this is health information. Optionally your allergies, your current medications, and any medications that must not be given to you. You decide whether to add these, and whether to include them in a report you generate.
- Seizure log entries — this is health information. Depending on what you choose to record, an entry may include the date and time, a severity level, symptoms, possible triggers, a location or situation you type in, and free-text notes.
- Care-circle relationships — the people you invite as supporters, and (if you join as a supporter) the person whose log you help track.
- Supporter notes — if you give a supporter permission, they can add a note to one of your entries (for example, describing what they observed). Their note appears beside your record, under their name. It never changes what you wrote, and you can delete any note on your own entries.
- Messages you send us — for example, if you email support.
Information collected automatically
- Push notification token — a device identifier used to deliver the alerts you enable (for example, notifying your supporters when a seizure is logged).
- Basic technical data — limited information needed to operate and secure the service, such as log data associated with your requests to our server.
MOMENTS does not collect your precise GPS location. Any "location" on a seizure entry is a description you choose to type in.
How we use your information
- To provide the core service — saving your seizure log and syncing it to your account across your devices.
- To share your entries with the supporters you invite, and to send the notifications you enable.
- To show you calendar, timeline, and pattern views of your own history.
- To respond to your support requests and keep the service secure.
We do not use your seizure data to make automated decisions about you, and we do not use it for advertising.
How your data is shared
Your care circle. A supporter gets access only after you approve them, and you decide what each one is allowed to do: see your entries and history, view your patterns, log an event on your behalf, add a note to an entry, or create a report. Depending on the permissions you grant, a supporter may see the medical details on your profile — including your emergency contacts, allergies, and medications — and may receive a notification when an event is logged. You can change or remove any supporter's permissions at any time in the app; removing a supporter stops their future access.
Service providers. A small number of providers process limited data on our behalf so the app can function:
- Apple — push notification delivery (and, on iOS, the App Store account you use to install the app).
- Expo — technical delivery of push notifications.
- RevenueCat — manages your purchase of the optional lifetime unlock and tells the app whether the unlock is active on your account. It receives your account identifier and the purchase record for that unlock. It does not receive your seizure log or any other health information.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your health data with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
Purchases
MOMENTS is free to download and use. It offers one optional lifetime unlock, a single one-time purchase that enables the care-circle features and the fuller pattern views. There is no subscription.
The payment itself is handled by the app store you installed the app from (Apple's App Store or Google Play). We never see or store your payment card details.
To know whether the unlock is active on your account, we record a purchase history for your account — that the unlock was purchased, and when — and we use RevenueCat to manage and verify it. RevenueCat receives your account identifier and the record of that purchase. It does not receive your seizure log, your medical details, or any other health information. This lets you restore your purchase on a new device by signing in.
Data retention
We keep your account and seizure log for as long as your account is active, so your history is available to you. If you delete your account, we delete your associated personal data and seizure entries from our systems, except where we are required to retain limited records by law.
Your choices
- Delete your account and data — you can request deletion of your account and all associated data from within the app, or by emailing us at chris@phoenixfireit.com.
- Control sharing — add or remove supporters at any time in the app.
- Control notifications — turn push notifications off in the app or in your device settings.
- Access or correct your data — edit your entries in the app, or contact us for help.
Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data.
Children's privacy
MOMENTS is intended for use by patients and their caregivers. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A parent or legal guardian may use the app on behalf of a minor in their care.
Not medical advice
MOMENTS is a personal record-keeping and communication tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for professional care or emergency services. See our Terms of Service for details.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
